Data Privacy Manager

Location: UK

Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri

Contract Type: Permanent, Salaried

You will be a member of the global data privacy and governance team responsible for supporting compliance governance for the region and collectively across the Merlin Group.  

You will report to the VP Data Privacy & Governance and work closely with the data governance and information security teams to promote awareness of information governance obligations and act as the in region lead for data protection compliance.  

Responsibilities:

• Support the privacy team with the global data protection compliance programme framework with a focus on the UK region 
• Management of a Data Privacy and Governance Support Assistant 
• Support the business and key internal stakeholders with the completion of DPIAs, TIAs, LIAs, third party vendor risk assessments and other due diligence documentation 
• Act as the local data protection lead for all BAU queries in the UK region 
• Assist with the maintenance of the Records of Processing Activities for the UK region ensuring it is complete and up-to-date 
• Supporting with the maintenance of the data protection risk register 
• Actively contribute to the development and improvement of policies and guidance to ensure the organisation complies with its statutory and regulatory data governance and data protection responsibilities 
• Assist with the development and delivery of in-house DP training and awareness packages for all internal stakeholders such as IT, legal, HR, marketing, senior management and the board of directors 
• Provide local KPI reports including metrics on key risks, trend and performance indicators such as training engagement, information requests, data breaches and records management 
• Assist the team with the management of the data subjects rights process including where necessary collating information and applying redactions to data subject rights requests in line with the legislative exemptions and corresponding with individuals regarding their statutory rights 
• Assist with routine and ad-hoc data protection audit and testing controls for both internal functions and third-party suppliers, producing audit reports as required 

• Legal qualifications preferred 
• Experience gained within a senior data protection role required  
• Experience managing a team in a leadership role essential  
• Excellent communication skills – both to technical and non-technical people 
• A good understanding of technology and information solutions 
• Ability to communicate legal principles within the 
• context of commercial scenarios
