Contract Type: Permanent, Salaried

 

This role sets the direction for the businesses in line with global, national, and local Merlin objectives.  Drives commercial, cultural, policy and systems integration to facilitate the operation, financial performance, and long-term strategic direction of the Legoland Discovery Centre Birmingham.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and drives the business plan for the attraction which takes account of all specialisms, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the shared vision
  • Deliver budgeted financial targets ensuring appropriate cost and revenue control is exhibited throughout the financial year
  • Define and implement strategy to improve profitability and brand consistency within all commercial areas of the attraction
  • Manage direct reports to deliver consistently against their respective priorities and areas of focus.
  • Direct and control the day-to-day activities of the attraction
  • Closely monitor guest feedback and mystery shopper visits to ensure identified quality targets are met then ultimately exceeded
  • Full responsibility for ensuring the attraction is compliant with relevant licensing, local requirements, and health, safety and security legislation
  • Drive positive employee engagement in collaboration with the wider business
  • Ensure that the activities of marketing and operations are co-ordinated to maximum effect in pursuit of identified objectives, particularly in respect of the Lego brand, liaising with The Lego Group where appropriate
  • Ensure compliance in all communications with chosen brand identities and propositions
  • Ensure that the attraction acts with ethics in line with the expectation of Merlin and The Lego Group

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or equivalent and relevant qualifications/experience
  • 5+ years’ experience within a tourism related sector with experience in operations, and/or marketing or finance
  • Experience as General Manager or similar level is essential
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to manage leaders
  • Experience of running and performing budgeting or forecasting processes
  • Commercial acumen
  • Excellent analytical ability with a good attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present plans to support business decisions
