Global Network Engineer
Location: UK
Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent - Salaried
To deliver and maintain robust, secure, and scalable network infrastructure that supports the organization’s strategic goals. This role is pivotal in driving operational excellence, ensuring high availability, performance, and resilience across network services with. The Network Engineer will work closely with managed service providers and internal technology teams to implement automation, improve service delivery, and enhance operational efficiency, including the execution of system updates, contribution to knowledge libraries, and ensuring Configuration Item (CI) data in the CMDB is accurate and current.
Operational Delivery• Implement and support network solutions aligned with Solution Definition Documents
(SDDs).
• Ensure seamless handover to operations post-deployment, maintaining continuity and
performance.
• Act as a point of escalation for operational support issues, resolving incidents efficiently
and proactively.
• Apply system updates and patches to network infrastructure either directly or by
coordinating with managed service providers.
• Ensure CI records in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) are accurate,
complete, and updated following changes or deployments.
Operational Excellence
• Champion continuous improvement in network operations through automation,
documentation, and process refinement.
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas for optimisation.
• Collaborate with managed service providers to streamline operations, reduce manual
effort, and improve service delivery.
• Partner with other technology teams to ensure network services align with broader IT
strategies and support cross-functional initiatives.
Knowledge Management
• Contribute to internal knowledge libraries by documenting solutions, processes,
troubleshooting guides, and lessons learned.
Security and Compliance
• Maintain and enforce network security policies, including firewall rules, access controls,
and threat mitigation.
• Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Communication
• Work closely with Project teams, Infrastructure teams, regional & central operations
teams and external partners to ensure successful delivery.
• Provide clear, concise documentation and reporting to support operational transparency.
Essential
• 3+ years in network engineering or support roles.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, STP, QoS, VPNs.
• Experience with Cisco technologies (CCNA required; CCNP desirable)
• Experience with Juniper or other Wi-Fi technologies.
• Experience working within an ITIL framework.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience working with managed service providers or third-party vendors.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technology teams.
• Experience applying system updates and coordinating patching activities.
• Familiarity with CMDB tools and processes, and maintaining CI data integrity.
• Strong documentation skills and experience contributing to knowledge libraries.
Desirable
• Exposure to SD-WAN, cloud networking (Azure/AWS/Other), and network automation
tools.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
• Experience in global operations or multi-site environments
