What you'll bring to the team

Mechanical Engineer 
Location: THORPE PARK Resort, KT16 8PN
Hours: Open Season (March-Nov): 7 on 4 off, then 7 on 3 off shift pattern with split shifts.  Closed Season (Nov-Mar) Monday-Friday
Salary: £44,559 - £48,188 skill-set and experience dependant; bonus; Merlin Magic Pass – 20 free tickets to all Merlin attractions worldwide, rising to 40 after a year’s service

As a Mechanical Engineer here at the Resort, you will keep our Rides & Attractions and equipment & facilities, to a high standard of safety and efficiency.  You will also fully participate in the execution and planning of the annual winter maintenance and certification programme, including all associated record keeping as demanded by HSE guidance notes and statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for the following skills and experience;

  • A sound knowledge of mechanical engineering and the ability to carry out planned and un-planned safety inspection and maintenance work on amusement devices and associated equipment in accordance with HSG175
  • To have completed a recognised apprenticeship or hold a recognised qualification e.g. City & Guild, BTEC, NVQ level 3, ONC in a mechanical engineering discipline as a minimum qualification
  • Experience of fabrication, particularly coded welding, desirable but not essential
  • The ability to read and understand schematic drawings in order to carry out effective fault finding and diagnostics. Experience of working with hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams is essential
  • Electrical principals appropriate to actuation of mechanical systems
  • Experience of Health & Safety procedures relevant to engineering activities and the safe handling of heavy equipment
  • Experience of PPM systems of work
  • As part of a shift team, must be able to respond quickly and safely to ride shutdowns to ensure maximum ride availability. This will include working at height and confined spaces

This is Full-Time, Permanent role, averaging 40 hours per week and will include weekends and bank holidays as required.
