Are you passionate about storytelling, protecting and enhancing Merlin’s reputation, and engaging with key stakeholders? Do you have a flair for media relations and crisis management? If so, this could be your next adventure!

We’re looking for an experienced Communications Manager to take the helm for our Rest of Gateway attractions (Manchester and Blackpool clusters, plus other single-site locations). Reporting to the Head of Communications for UK Gateway (London Lead), you’ll be the go-to expert for all things communications, ensuring our attractions continue to thrive in the public eye and remain a key part of their local communities.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK so long as you are a commutable distance from one of our attractions or offices.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading public relations and media activity for our Rest of Gateway attractions, ensuring consistent messaging across brands.
  • Managing crisis and issue responses, working closely with senior leaders to protect Merlin’s reputation.
  • Supporting stakeholder engagement, from local authorities to community groups, showcasing our attractions' positive impact.
  • Driving internal communications, ensuring our teams are well-informed and inspired.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A strategic communicator – experience in PR, corporate communications, or media relations.
  • A crisis-handling pro – proven ability to navigate complex issues while keeping cool under pressure.
  • A stakeholder engagement champion – comfortable liaising with journalists, local officials, and internal teams alike.
  • An exceptional writer and storyteller – able to craft compelling narratives that resonate with different audiences.

Benefits

We’re growing fast and alongside a fun and friendly environment, we offer a fabulous package and amazing prospects – ideal if you’re already fantastic and want to become even better (our magic can help here). Benefits include Pension, Life Assurance, discretionary company bonus, 28 days’ holiday including bank holidays, a Merlin Magic Pass which gives you and your friends and family free admission to all of our attractions worldwide, an Enjoy the Ride pass which entitles you and 5 loved ones unlimited entry into your regional attractions, 25% discount in our retail shops and restaurants and 40% discount on LEGO, plus lots more!
