Due to continuing growth and development of Merlin’s attractions and brands on a global scale, we are looking for a Senior Procurement Manager - Capital Projects to join our Group Procurement team on a permanent basis. The role will be based at our Merlin Technical Hub office based in our thrilling Thorpe Park Resort in Chertsey, Surrey. Hybrid-working is available for those looking for more flexibility.

 

We're looking for a Senior Procurement Manager – Capital Projects to lead the end-to-end procurement process, ensuring cost-effective, high-quality, and compliant procurement outcomes for the UK, EU and APAC regions. You will be responsible for tendering, supplier selection, contract management, and supplier performance oversight while collaborating with key internal stakeholders. Your expertise in negotiation, strategic sourcing, and risk management will be essential in driving procurement excellence for our capital projects.

🔍 Tendering & Supplier Selection

  • Manage the entire tendering process, including RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs.
  • Evaluate supplier bids based on cost, quality, and project requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

🤝 Supplier & Contract Management

  • Negotiate supplier contracts to secure the best value and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and maintain a reliable, high-quality supplier network.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and implement improvement plans.
  • Ensure all suppliers meet compliance, safety, and quality standards.

📜 Procurement Strategy & Compliance

  • Collaborate with technical teams to define procurement specifications.
  • Draft and review procurement contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively manage procurement risks in capital projects.

📊 Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, finance, and legal teams.
  • Provide regular updates on procurement progress and escalate issues when needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant experience in procurement, with a strong focus on tendering and supplier management for capital projects.
  • Proven experience in managing procurement for construction, infrastructure, or engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tender evaluation, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management.
  • Proficiency in procurement and ERP systems.
  • A degree in Business or related discipline would be ideal but not essential,
  • A Professional Procurement qualification (e.g. certification) is desirable
  • Knowledge and experience or the different tendering and procurement methods utilised in construction contracts, i.e negotiation, two-stage, single stage, and Traditional, Design Build and Construction Management Methods would be beneficial
  • Knowledge and experience of different contract types, from consultant appointments to construction contracts and industry standard contract suites, such as JCT or AIA would also be beneficial
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
  • Innovative thought and actions in relation to problem solving
  • Excellent quantitative and data analysis skills
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and managing potentially conflicting views
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
