What you'll bring to the team

Are you an experienced finance professional looking to step into a strategic, regionally-focused accounting role? We’re looking for a Regional Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team and support the successful delivery of accurate financial reporting, operational excellence and collaborative stakeholder engagement across our international operations.

You can be located anywhere in the UK, within a reasonable commute of any Merlin-attraction and will be comfortable commuting to the finance hub in Basingstoke on a weekly basis. 

The successful candidate will act as the key conduit between our Regional and Site Finance teams and the R2R (Record to Report) domain. Your role is pivotal in delivering high-quality financial analysis, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and enabling continuous improvement in our accounting processes. You will also play a significant role in the month-end close and variance analysis processes, acting as a trusted partner to the wider finance function. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships, leading monthly service reviews and promoting a culture of financial control and audit readiness.

  • Deliver clear, value-added financial analysis and commentary to support Regional Finance.

  • Oversee international accounting operations, ensuring statutory compliance and accurate account maintenance.

  • Coordinate audited financial statements and contribute to process reviews with senior finance leaders.

  • Lead variance analysis, drive timely period-end close, and champion process improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and support regional analysis through the Fhub.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA (minimum 2 years PQE)

  • Strong background in month-end close, financial analysis, and reporting

  • Experience supporting teams with technical accounting knowledge and solutions

  • Knowledge of Shared Services Centre (SSC) operations and R2R processes

  • Demonstrated success in process improvement and stakeholder management

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to influence and drive accounting excellence

  • Strong communicator, confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels

  • Effective leader with the ability to develop others and inspire collaboration

  • Proven problem-solver with a critical mindset and a practical approach

  • Familiarity with financial risk and control frameworks
